Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball.
  3. Roll out half of the dough to fit a pie pan. Place the bottom crust in the pan.
  4. In another bowl, toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour this filling into the crust.
  5. Roll out the remaining dough, place over the filling, and seal the edges. Cut slits for steam to escape.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, or until apples are soft and the crust is golden brown.
