Caramel Apple Pie Recipe

This Caramel Apple Pie Recipe brings a delicious twist to a classic dessert, combining sweet caramel with tart apples for a melt-in-your-mouth experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
  • 6 cups sliced and peeled apples
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for filling)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  3. In another bowl, combine sliced apples, caramel sauce, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour.
  4. Roll out the dough to fit a pie dish. Place the bottom crust in the dish. Fill with the apple mixture.
  5. Roll out the second half of the dough and cover the pie. Seal and cut slits for steam to escape. Brush the top with an egg wash.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30 to 35 minutes, or until apples are soft and crust is golden.
  7. Let the pie cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the apple mixture.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
