  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla to the mixture.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. Roll out dough and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly.
  7. Roll into a log and cut into pieces.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a drizzle of chocolate glaze on top before serving.
  • These can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
