French Onion Chicken Orzo Casserole

A creamy, cheesy casserole loaded with the rich flavor of French onion soup, tender chicken, and orzo pasta.

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound chicken breast, diced
  • 2 cups cooked orzo
  • 1 can French onion soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup French fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add the diced chicken. Cook until no longer pink.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the cooked orzo, French onion soup, sour cream, half of the mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the cooked chicken to the mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and French fried onions.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can sauté the onions before adding them to the casserole.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
