Monte Cristo Breakfast Casserole

A delicious twist on the classic Monte Cristo sandwich, this breakfast casserole incorporates turkey bacon and chicken ham for a hearty and flavorful morning dish.

  • 8 slices bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup chicken ham, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. Layer half of the bread slices on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  5. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread slices.
  6. Evenly distribute the turkey bacon, chicken ham, and Swiss cheese over the bread.
  7. Top with the remaining bread slices and pour the rest of the egg mixture over the top.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter touch, serve with maple syrup.
  • This casserole can be prepared a day in advance and baked in the morning.
