- 6 apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 package pie crusts
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat and stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Add the sliced apples and toss to coat. Cook until apples are tender, about 10 minutes.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Fill with the apple mixture.
- Cover with the second pie crust, sealing the edges. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.
