- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides.
- Once browned, remove meatballs and set aside. In the same skillet, add onions and sauté until translucent.
- Pour in the red wine and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Add meatballs back to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
Notes
- Serve with pasta or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
- These meatballs can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
