Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides.
  5. Once browned, remove meatballs and set aside. In the same skillet, add onions and sauté until translucent.
  6. Pour in the red wine and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Add meatballs back to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.

Notes

  • Serve with pasta or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
  • These meatballs can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
