Shepherd’s Pie Recipe

A hearty and delicious Shepherd’s Pie made with turkey bacon and a savory beef filling.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and chop.
  3. In the same skillet, add onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in the chopped turkey bacon, Worcestershire sauce, peas, and carrots. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Add beef broth and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  7. Spread the beef mixture in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Notes

  • For a creamier mashed potato topping, add butter and milk.
  • Feel free to substitute other vegetables as desired.
