Shepherd’s Pie with Ground Beef

A hearty and delicious Shepherd’s Pie made with ground beef, topped with creamy mashed potatoes.

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup corn
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent.
  4. Stir in the carrots, peas, and corn. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  7. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute the ground beef with lentils.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like green beans or bell peppers.
